Radiator Cleaner
Radiator Cleaner
This is something I feel is really helpful and necessary if your oil cooler is in front of your radiator. I know this will work on the Yamaha Rhino but if you have a different SxS or ATV I recommend visually inspecting your unit before going any further.
If your oil cooler is in front of your radiator do not and I repeat do not use a garden hose or pressure washer to clean the oil cooler from the front it will only fill the radiator with mud which will eventually cause you bike to overheat and will make the radiator harder to clean when it does. What I used was:
A garden hose adapter, which had 3/4 inch female pipe thread on the other end,
a 3/4inch male pipe thread to 1/2inch female pipe thread adapter,
a 1/2inch male to 3/8inch female pipe thread adapter,
a 3/8 male pipe thread to 3/8inch male pipe thread adapter,
a 3/8 inch female pipe thread to 3/8 inch copper pipe adapter.
I first soldered my 3/8 inch pipe thread to 3/8 inch copper pipe adapter to about 2ft of copper pipe. I then cut the pipe to size, flattened the end of the pipe, Then I soldered the end I flattened to keep it from leaking. Next I drilled 4, 1/8 inch holes near the end of the copper pipe that I previously flattened. I then assembled the assembly as seen below, using thread tape on all joints.
If you build one of these be real careful when using it not to hit the radiator with the copper pipe because it could bend the cooling fins and damage the radiator.
